Amateur vs Professional

Here we have chosen two examples of music videos. One is by a professional and one is by an amateur ( students).



This video by Rihanna shows its professional as you can tell that they had a higher budget to make the video which you can see through the settings. In this video the use of camera angles and lighting is a lot more professional and effective showing a range of emotions and settings through close ups, mid shots and long shots. Another factor which shows that this diverse range of settings and locations used in the video and also the range of shots shown of all of them.



This video made by amateurs shows a significant difference to the professional video as this video had a much lower budget. This shows through the use of the location, lighting and lack of professional equipment they were able to use, for example lower quality camera's. Also, they do not use a wide range of camera angles, throughout most of the video they mainly use mid shots whereas the professional video uses a greater range which makes the video more effective. However, the editing technique used at a certain point of the video to speed the actions up has been done effectively and looks professional but it does not have continuity throughout the video.
